On Thursday, February 9th we gathered with community members, local officials, donors, partners and a virtual audience to celebrate having officially completed the Detroit Healthy Housing Center (DHHC) construction. We are now set to provide access to care for vulnerable populations. The facility is the first of its kind in the state, providing a community health center, emergency shelter to 56 single women and 17 medical respite beds for homeless individuals to receive continuing care post-hospitalization.
The 22,000-square-foot facility is the second and final phase of NSO’s Healthy Housing Campus. DHHC houses NSO’s fourth 360 Neighborhood Wellness Center, a certified community behavioral health clinic (CCBHC) – which will offer primary care in partnership CHASS Center will also be open to the public. DHHC will provide supportive services to the surrounding neighborhoods, including job readiness training and an industrial community kitchen.
The Detroit Healthy Housing Center offers transformative health and social justice programming for its neighboring residents and community.
