*POP* goes the color!

Crayola® has nothing on Remick.

Hello Dawne,

Spring is happily marching along at the Remick farmstead, and the colors are popping! The farm is coming alive with new growth, adorable baby cows and goats, and refreshed programming, creating a special time to visit with family and friends.

To start May off on a vibrant foot, Remick is part of a uniquely colorful, annual event taking place in Tamworth through May 3. Artists participating in Wet Paint Tamworth — a "plein air” invitational event organized by The Preserve at Chocorua — can be spotted across the farmstead and at other captivating Tamworth locations.

Two additional May activities are sure to raise the brilliancy metric: Young Farmers and a springtime Literary Walk. Young Farmers actively explores the delights of “The Colorful Farm” on May 11, and this season’s Literary Walk will open your eyes and ears to the natural beauty of the farmstead. Preregistration is required for both activities. See the Highlights below for more dazzling hues of learning and fun.

These colorful happenings and more await your discovery. Don't miss out on the chance to create cherished memories with your loved ones at Remick this spring. Make Remick your meetup place this season! #RemickMeetUp

Take a look below, click a link or two or more, then reserve your spot for a farm-fresh activity while we look forward to welcoming you to the historic Remick farmstead!

A Dose of Remick News

REMICK NEWS

  • Final Cuddle Corral sessions of the year! Yes, we’re nearing the end of baby goat cuddle-time season, so don’t miss out on this adorable opportunity. Final dates in May: 3, 4, 10 and 11. Preregistration is required by 3 p.m. the day prior, space is limited. Book now by calling (603) 323-7591.

  • Give a goat some shelter... NH Gives returns June 11–12! This year, three durable, shade-giving goat shelters will be built with your help. Beginning in mid-May, we will share helpful details about this important project as we prepare for the exciting statewide fundraising event in June and hope to secure your financial support. Look for information in your inbox and on social media. Note: We previously announced that the Summer House/gazebo would be the focus of our 2024 NH Gives fundraising efforts. Upon closer inspection, the structure’s repair requires a much larger sum of money than we anticipated, an amount we are unable to dedicate or supplement this year, perhaps even in the near future. If you are interested in sponsoring the repair of this important structure in part or in full, we would be delighted to speak with you. Contact Cara Sutherland, Executive Director

  • Looking ahead to summer? Our Summer on the Farm schedule begins on June 20, the first day of summer. The schedule is outlined here, complete activity details will be posted soon.

  • Two dates remain for our At the Table x Remick dinner series! Held in partnership with Emerald Events Co. of Tamworth, join us for a delectable farm-to-table meal featuring Remick-raised beef and lamb.

Summer Solstice Dinner - June 22

Harvest Dinner - September 21

Limited seating available. Reservations are required the Tuesday before each scheduled date. Menus will be posted as each date approaches. Information and tickets are available by calling (603) 323-7591 or visit us online.

Remick goat kids playing on their trampoline. (Goat trampoline? Yup, it’s a thing.) Our final Cuddle Corral sessions with these talented rascals take place in early May — don’t miss out on the fun. And when one pen closes another one opens... Goat Hikes will soon be available!

History Footnote

Marion Ella Remick, née Miles, was born on Monday, May 28, 1906, making this year’s date the 118th anniversary of her birth. According to the notation in her mother’s birthday book — the cover and selected pages of which are shown here — she weighed 6 3/4 pounds. The book’s inscription reveals it was a Christmas gift to Marion’s mother, Ethel B. Edgerly, from A. A. Coté, in 1886. Marion and Ethel are pictured in the center image. Be sure to visit the Museum Center to learn about more Remick history highlights. [ Marion’s given first name was Marian. At some point in time she changed it to her preferred spelling, Marion. ]
