County of San Diego Launches New Emergency Evacuation Technology

The County of San Diego recently launched new technology to streamline the evacuation process during emergencies throughout the region.

The Genasys EVAC technology will assist emergency departments in delivering more precise location-based alerts to residents and businesses during an emergency evacuation. Improved mapping will provide more specific evacuation areas, limiting unnecessary evacuations. Genasys also supports more efficient repopulation directions so that people can get back into their homes sooner.

Before Genasys, emergency personnel used a grid system to map out evacuations. With Genasys, the Vista Fire Department will be able to utilize the new system to plan evacuations and provide instructions to specific neighborhoods referred to as zones.
