JANUARY 2023

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dani_website.jpg

Greetings,

January is only partially over, and already AREA has seen tremendous activity with multiple client visits already conducted and more scheduled before the month is over.

AREA welcomed several new board members this month to our 2023 slate of Directors, all eager to help advance our strategic plan implementation.

We are also out and about spreading the word about AREA’s efforts in public forums, having presented updates to both the Sandoval and Bernalillo County commissions in December and earlier this week presenting an overview on our efforts to the Albuquerque City Council. These efforts are designed to create greater engagement with AREA across the region.

Further, we have been in the news spreading the word about economic development opportunities for the region in the year ahead — to name a few of our accomplishments.

I hope to see you at our upcoming quarterly event on March 16, which will focus on The Case for Downtown. We have an exciting lineup of guest speakers that will inspire all of us to think about the future of downtown Albuquerque and the critical importance of the urban core to the entire region.

Cheers,

HEADLINE HIGHLIGHTS

The Year Ahead: Economic Development

"Our regional economy has so much promise, it is hard to choose just one. However, we have seen significant interest from large-scale manufacturing clients throughout 2022, with 16% of our pipeline currently made up of renewable energy component manufacturing opportunities, and another 16% in the semiconductor manufacturing sector. I also see tremendous momentum, opportunity and excitement around Downtown revitalization."
