Separate is Not Equal: Reflecting on the 70th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, 1954 and DEI in California

May 17th will mark the 70th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, KS 1954 supreme court decision to abolish the “separate but equal doctrine.” On April 23rd, the Network commemorated this occasion with a virtual convening of 214 attendees. View the recorded remarks from the Network Director and CSU Office of the Chancellor leadership, San JosĂ© State ethnic studies faculty, middle leaders systemwide, and CSU students who spoke on desegregation efforts, their legacies, and the continued need to center diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in California’s education systems.

2024-25 Middle Leadership Academy


We are thrilled to announce that the application period for the 2024-25 MLA will open on August 1. We invite cross-functional teams of staff, students, administrators, and faculty from each campus to apply. The Academy is grounded in a problem-based learning model that motivates participants to "lead from the middle" as they explore and apply strategies to support equitable student learning, engagement, progression, and success on their campuses. ď»ż
