Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Don't Forget About Thanksgiving Boxes!

As we approach Thanksgiving, please remember to bring your completed Thanksgiving meal boxes by this Sunday, November 19. This missional offering goes to support local families in need this upcoming holiday. All boxes will be delivered to Colonial Heights Christian Church after worship. Boxes may also be dropped off at the church anytime before this coming Sunday. Thank you for participating in this community need!

This upcoming Advent, I am excited to take a trip together through the neighborhood of scripture to see something new. A special child will be born to us again on Christmas, but this year, our church family takes the time to see what is unique about each of four homes he is born into. Come and see what each of the four Gospels have to say about Christ's arrival into the world and what it means for our life of faith.

Cynthia Campbell's book, "Christmas in the Four Gospel Homes", will be one of our tour guides throughout this season and I want to invite the congregation to read this book along with me as we walk through Advent together. Each Sunday service will focus on one of the four Gospels, with one special service on December 17 that focuses on the Christmas story told through our music. For anyone that wishes to discuss the book in a bible study atmosphere, two opportunities are available during the week with either the Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study that meets at 3pm or the Remnant Sunday School Class that meets after worship at 11am. Copies of the book are already available in the Narthex. Books are $10 and any payment may be left in the basket by the books, dropped off in the office, or given through Realm.

I hope that you will join me in this holiday home tour as we see the light of Christ shining in different ways from these four familiar stories. O come o come Emmanuel!

Gratefully,

- David

Fall Fun at the Presbytery Youth Retreat!

The CHPC Youth Group had an awesome trip to the annual Holston Presbytery Youth Retreat! It's always such a fun time to be with the other youth groups in our Presbytery and get out into the wilderness! Big thanks to Holston Presbytery Camp & Retreat Center for hosting and feeding all of us and making sure we had a great time!

Join Us for a Special Dinner

and "No Talent" Show!

All are welcome to a special dinner and "No Talent Show" on December 3 at 5pm in the gym. It will be an evening full of laughs and fun as we share our talents with one another. If you have a talent you would like to share with our church family, please let Gretchen Bentley or Joanie Zimmerman know.

October Cents-a-bility Collection

For the month of October, our church family was able to raise over $450 for our Blessing Box! Thank you for supporting this important ministry for those who need a little extra in our community.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA)

Relief Efforts in Israel/Palestine

PDA seeks to find solutions to alleviate the human suffering happening in Gaza by supporting partners in Palestine and Israel who are responding to the needs of neighbors and strangers in their midst, no matter their religious beliefs, political views or nationality. We are called to care for all of God’s children, especially those in war-torn communities, by responding to the urgent needs of those directly affected by the current conflict. Please pray for peace and safe passage for those seeking help and fleeing the ongoing chaos.

More can be learned about PDA's important work here by visiting their website. If you feel called to contribute financially, please do so through PDA's giving portal here. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers for peace!

All names will be printed in the bulletin on Sunday, Dec. 17. Poinsettias may be picked up after the Christmas Eve service. Order forms are available in the narthex and should be ordered by November 19. Please make any monetary contributions by December 12.
