Thank You For Supporting
The Pumpkin Patch at CHPC!
| |
All good things must come to an end, and this year's Pumpkin Patch has ended incredibly! Our Patch closed last Friday and every single unsold Pumpkin was taken to a good home to feed some hungry farm animals. It is a blessing to know that even though we had some leftover Pumpkins--those pumpkins could become leftovers for the chickens!!
As we shared in worship this Sunday: between pumpkin sales, knitted pumpkins, the bake sale, the craft sale, and donations, the church was able to raise over $7000 for our children and youth ministries throughout the month of October! Thank you for helping to make this happen both in the Patch and during our two wonderfully successful community events during the Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat.
What is incalculable about this year's Pumpkin Patch is what this ministry accomplished for our community, both outside the church and within. We were able to make so many points of connection with the individuals and families we welcomed into the Patch. We worked together and strengthened our communal bond to faithfully offer Christ's hospitality to our neighbors. So, to all who unloaded pumpkins, bought pumpkins, sold pumpkins, baked donations, knit donations together, served food, passed out candy, and everything else this church did through the month of October--thank you from the bottom of our hearts! This display of unity and service is a picture perfect image of what it means to be the body of Christ.
In Christ,
Tyler and David

Operation Christmas Shoebox Ministry
The 2023 Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry has come to a close. The CHPC family made a considerable difference for children in need. We initially purchased 50 boxes, but within two weeks it was apparent that this church's enthusiasm for generosity merited many more boxes! In total, your gifts provided 80 children with not only toys and necessities, but also delivered fun treasures that each child can call their own.
These gifts of love are going to poverty-stricken areas all over the world. Even the boxes themselves are cherished possessions. We are so blessed to have the ability to share the charity and love of Christ with children who have so little. Thank you so much for all your generosity to those who filled and returned a shoebox!

Thanksgiving Dinner Meal Boxes
CHPC partners again to provide Thanksgiving boxes with Colonial Heights Christian Church (CHCC) for local families in need. Members of our Church will provide the side dishes and CHCC will provide the meat. Please pick up a Food Suggestion Card from the parlor to begin filling your donation. If you can provide your own box, that would be appreciated, but if you need a box, the church will have a limited supply. Completed boxes will be collected the Sunday before Thanksgiving, November 19 to be delivered to CHCC after worship. You may also drop your box off at the church any time prior to November 19. Thank you for participating in this community need!
Supporting The Blessing Box
Thank you so much for your support and stewardship of our Blessing Box! Because of your kindness, there are many people in our community who are being served with food and other necessities. For the month of November, we would like to put emphasis on collecting Hats, Gloves, Socks, and other such items for colder weather.
Printed below is a Blessing Box Donations List, with helpful suggestions. As a reminder, there are always collection boxes in the narthex for you to conveniently place donations. Please donate whatever you can, either from the list or items you think people in our community would see as a Blessing!
Thanks again for all you do to Love our Neighbors,
Your Missions Committee

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA)
Relief Efforts in Israel/Palestine
| |
PDA seeks to find solutions to alleviate the human suffering happening in Gaza by supporting partners in Palestine and Israel who are responding to the needs of neighbors and strangers in their midst, no matter their religious beliefs, political views or nationality. We are called to care for all of God’s children, especially those in war-torn communities, by responding to the urgent needs of those directly affected by the current conflict. Please pray for peace and safe passage for those seeking help and fleeing the ongoing chaos.
More can be learned about PDA's important work here by visiting their website. If you feel called to contribute financially, please do so through PDA's giving portal here. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayers for peace!

The Youth Group goes on the Presbytery Youth Retreat this weekend! Keep our Youth in your prayers as they enjoy Holston Camp, have fun with other youth from throughout the Presbytery, and engage and learn from the word of God.
The CHPC Christmas Memorial Gifts program is for those who wish to give a memorial gift to honor or remember those special people who have been a part of our life. You may choose to give a poinsettia that will be used to decorate the church or a monetary contribution to our Renovation Fund. The cost for a poinsettia is $10. All names will be printed in the bulletin on Sunday, Dec. 17. Poinsettias may be picked up after the Christmas Eve service. Order forms are available in the narthex and should be ordered by November 19. Please make any monetary contributions by December 12.
Save the Date for the "No Talent" Show and Dinner! On December 3 at 5pm in the gym, we will have an evening of laughs and fun as we share our talents with one another. If you have a talent you would like to share with our church family, please let Gretchen Bentley or Joanie Zimmerman know.
The Women's Ministry will gather for a Christmas Celebration on Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 pm in the gym. All are welcome to participate in a White Elephant gift exchange of items that are less than 10 dollars. Please also consider bringing an item to support the blessing box and or a favorite finger food or dessert to share.
Thank you for prayerfully considering how God is calling you to rejoice and participate in this year's stewardship season. Additional stewardship packets are available in the narthex and any pledge cards or time and talent surveys can be returned to the front office.
