NEW CHAMBER INITIATIVE
Business Directory 💼
Last year, we heard a common question from our membership and the public: how can we support local minority and women-owned small businesses? This led to an idea–and with your help–we'd like to bring that idea to life.

The Chamber plans to launch a new Minority and Women-Owned Business Directory. Chamber membership will not be required, although Chamber members will receive a special identifier.

We've created an eight-question Google Form for you to submit your business information. If there is a business you'd like to see on the list, please forward the form to the business owner.

Special thanks to Robert Jeffrey, Jr. with ColorsVA for partnering with us on this important and timely initiative.
BE ON THE LOOKOUT
Small Business Awards 🏆
The accomplishments of the region's best small businesses and not-for-profit organizations will be recognized later this year at the 34th Small Business Awards, presented by Tech Squared.

Nominations, made directly by members of the community, will open later this month. Finalists and winners are selected by a committee of the region's business and community leaders and industry experts.

Stay tuned for more information!

COVID-19 UPDATE
Vaccine Availability 💉
From The City of Roanoke: Many people are starting to ask "When can I receive the COVID19 vaccine?"

Right now, the Virginia Department of Health doesn't have a timeline but is working diligently to vaccinate our community as quickly and efficiently as possible. In the meantime, here are some ways that you can stay in the know:

  • Follow the Roanoke City & Alleghany Health District Facebook page
  • Keep an eye on this website
  • VDH and the City of Roanoke will be utilizing mass media due to the numbers of people that will be eligible in Phase 1b, Phase 1c, and the general public, so please stay tuned to local news and media outlets
  • Learn more about the vaccine by checking out VDH's vaccine page

What are the phases of vaccinations?

Phase 1a: Health Care Personnel, Long Term Care Facility Residents
Phase 1b: Essential Workers (ie: Education Sector, Food & Agriculture, Utilities, Police, Firefighters, Corrections Officers, Transportation)
Phase 1c: Adults with high-risk medical conditions, Adults 65 and older

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is also offering this one-pager with information about the vaccine allocation process, expected timelines, and what it all means for the road to recovery.
