Supreme Court Takes MS Case!
And Our APR Bill Now Heading to Senate!

First, BIG NEWS this morning! The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Mississippi's law protecting unborn babies at 15 weeks and later from abortion! This decision has major implications for us as the enforcement of a similar 2018 Louisiana law is tied to the outcome of this Mississippi case. The justices could use this case to overturn Roe v. Wade, whether in full or in part! Watch our video above for more insight.

Supreme Court Will Hear Mississippi Case
Protecting Unborn Babies at 15 Weeks
The U.S. Supreme Court has announced it will hear an abortion case from Mississippi concerning a 2018 law that protects unborn babies in the 15th week of pregnancy and later from abortion. The law was ruled unconstitutional by lower courts. The Supreme Court will hear the case in the fall and issue a decision next year. That decision could upend Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey as the Court revisits precedent protecting abortion rights.
Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act Passes
House; Senate Will Now Take Up HB 578
THANK YOU for emailing your legislators about HB 578, the Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act! The bill, by Rep. Beryl Amedee, passed the Louisiana House of Representatives by a 71-27-7 margin on May 12. HB 578 provides critical information to women choosing a chemical abortion about the possibility that the effects of their abortion could be reversed and the life of their unborn child saved. To date, more than 2,000 babies have been born across the nation thanks to the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol.
Congratulations to McKenzie Chevis and Brailey Major, the first recipients of the St. Landry Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program! The Opelousas Catholic High School students each received a $4,000 scholarship through the Louisiana Black Advocates for Life program. LABAL hopes to grow this scholarship program to award a student in each high school grade.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has joined a coalition of 22 states in filing a legal brief at the United States Supreme Court in support of an Arkansas law that would prohibit abortions solely based on a prenatal Down Syndrome diagnosis.(READ MORE) In honor of this law, we posted a video on Facebook of Courtni Henry sharing her poem, "Never Give Up."
New Orleans Right to Life and Louisiana Black Advocates for Life partnered on Mother's Day weekend to support local moms and babies in need with the NOLA To-Go Baby Bag distribution. Together, with your support, we were able to purchase and hand out more 500 bags for these families at two New Orleans locations.
Louisiana Black Advocates for Life is hosting an ongoing Tuesday night video series (7 p.m.) on its Facebook page (@LABlackAdvocates) titled "I'm Black. I'm Pro-Life. Here's Why." Dr. Joshua Dara, a Pineville pastor at Zion Hill Baptist Church, was the latest participant. Tune in tomorrow, May 18 to hear our next guest!
Thanks to all of you who supported our first Pro-Life Car Cinema on May 15 in Prairieville! The event was well attended and raised needed money for our Advertise for Life program. The event featured the movie "Horton Hears a Who," and children also took home a pro-life goodie bag.
Registration is now open for the 2021 PULSE Leadership Institute. This weeklong pro-life training camp is set for July 12-16 near Baton Rouge and open to high school and college students. There are only 40 slots available, so don't wait to register your students!
