Greetings!

We are excited to be starting our 2023 Early Fall Basketball Season at Hongwanji Mission School! Please review the following information to prepare yourself for opening day this upcoming weekend.
Opening Day - Prepare Yourself and Your Child

Opening Day will act as the first official practice of the season. Each team will have a designated amount of time to have an opportunity to meet their coaches, receive their jerseys, and participate in some introductory drills. There will be one team per half-court inside the gym. Please have your child dressed ready to play with their basketball and water bottle. Practice days during the weekday will be set amongst the teams and their volunteer coaches on opening day. Duration of practice for each age group will be 30 minutes.

There have been some slight changes made to the Saturday league schedule this week that affect the start times of opening day, please re-review the schedule for this weekend & beyond in case of any changes. You can take a look at your i9 schedule for the season by clicking here.

Important Note: There will be an event taking place at the school on Saturday, Sept. 16th. There will be only parking available on the Hi'aloa side of the campus. The school administration has informed us that the school has additional parking rented at Soto Mission & Kawananakoa Elementary School on this day as well. When arriving, please look for parking in the Hi'aloa parking lot first before the other options provided. The last option would be street parking in the Nu'uanu neighborhood. The opening day schedule has been adjusted to include small gaps between practice times throughout the day, please vacate the campus immediately at the conclusion of your practice & bring only 1 vehicle per player to alleviate the parking situation. We kindly also ask that only coaches arrive early if necessary, all other families should arrive no earlier than their scheduled time.

Hongwanji Mission School ages 4-8U Co-Ed starts on Sept. 16, 2023

Additional Information

Start With a Check-In. Please locate an i9 staff member on site to help you find your team for opening day. The i9 staffer will be wearing a navy blue staff shirt & can be located inside of the gym at halfcourt.

Families are welcome to help their child out on the court. The first day might be a little nerve-racking for our first time players, especially in our 4-6u division. Please feel free to help guide and support them to through your coaches drills!

Let's keep our game venue safe & clean! We are all responsible to keep the Hongwanji Campus clean for our keiki to continue to have this venue as a place for us to play. Be sure to monitor your child when they use the facilities on campus to be sure no foreign objects are flushed down the toilet & the bathroom is not left a wet mess with paper towels & toilet paper everywhere.

Snack sign up will be on located on your schedule on your i9 account. At the conclusion of the game, please avoid congregating inside the gym, and allow the next groups to have the space to themselves. When bringing snacks and enjoying them around the campus, please be mindful of the facility and clean up before leaving.
Become a Volunteer Coach

We are much appreciative of all our volunteer coaches every season. Without their dedication and support for our keiki our programs would not be possible. It is not too late to volunteer to be a part of the i9 Coach Ohana. The more family participation the better! Please consider volunteering and supporting your coach and program.

A volunteer application can be completed under your i9 Sports account or by clicking the button below. Please reach out to the league
