2022 B.A.A. 5K Race Week is HERE!

This week's newsletter is full of important things to know to make for a successful race day. We can't wait to see you in Boston on April 16!
5 Things to Know to be Ready for the B.A.A. 5K
#1: BIB NUMBERS

Important Note: International residents & U.S. residents who have not received bibs yet may pick up their numbers from the Registration Tent on race day. You must present a Government Issued Photo ID & proof of COVID-19 vaccination to receive your bib number. The tent will be divided into International & U.S. resident pick-up, ordered by last name. We encourage you to arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour early if picking up your bib number.

If you misplace or damage your bib, a replacement bib will be issued on race day.
#2: GETTING TO THE START

The start and finish for the B.A.A. 5K is located on Charles Street, between the Public Gardens and Boston Common. The nearest MBTA stops include: Arlington and Boylston Street on the Green Line, Park Street on the Red and Green Line; Chinatown on the Orange Line. Parking is very limited, with roads closing as early as 5:00 a.m. near the start. We suggest parking at Clarendon Street Garage, which is just a short walk to the start area.

We encourage you to arrive early in order to check your gear before the start of the race. Do not check valuables. The B.A.A. is not responsible for lost items.
#4: THE START, TIMING, AND RESULTS

Runners will be self-seeded, with signs indicating the best place to start based on pace. The timing and scoring system will begin recording your time once you cross the starting line.

Please listen for directions on when to proceed to the seeding area. Bib numbers 1-5,000 should begin seeding by 7:45 a.m., with bibs 5,000-10,000 seeding shortly thereafter.

Special Olympics MA Spotlight
Rachel Lindberg will be running the #BAA5K on April 16th as a member of the #XtraMile fundraising team. She is a Gold Medal winning basketball coach, she’s been a Unified partner, and she takes to the streets to raise critical funds for @SpecialOlympicsMA as a member of the Xtra Mile endurance team. Rachel will often involve her Special Olympics fitness club in the training for her races, making sure they are included in the journey.

Rachel says that her Special Olympics program is always looking to include more volunteers who are interested in having fun, staying active and building relationships with the awesome athletes they work with each season.

You too can join the Xtra Mile and run on an inclusive team for your next race!
