WINTER RECAP

Good Bye Winter - Hello Spring! With the solstice here, let's take a quick look back at the winter at CEC Health Care!

A NEW HOME

During the 2023 Holiday Season, Newsday printed an article about a woman who was recently experiencing homelessness, and is now living in one of our residential housing programs.

St. Killian’s Parish in Farmingdale, where the woman is a parishioner, contacted CEC Health Care to inquire if our Residential Services could take her in. The article highlighted that she is now getting back on her feet.

American Heart Month

Last month, CEC Health Care observed American Heart Month to promote heart healthy lifestyles in our communities.

ο»ΏAt the beginning of the month, we introduced a new Patient Resources section on our website that includes an article on Heart Health Strategies written by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Christine Brown.

On Feb 15th, our CEC Health Care staff dressed up in Red to show their support for all those taking steps to improve their heart health. See the pictures below!

Department of Health Visit

The Nassau County Department of Health (DOH) visited us in February to tour our Bethpage facility, and to learn more about our wide breadth of services, both inside and outside of our health centers.

The meeting was filled with the exchange of insights and resources with the DOH, and we are now looking at new ways to partner together to deliver more Care With Excellence and Compassion.

Veteran In Need Receives Care

Recently the family of a U.S. Navy Veteran, who had received our Veterans Services flyer from a friend, walked into our Glen Cove center seeking resources for their brother who was in need of housing and health care.

The Case Manager for our CCBHC (Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic) made contact with the veteran in the field and shared that she too, is a Navy Veteran. The Case Manager made plans to visit the veteran the next day. Unfortunately, he declined any immediate assistance, but indicated that he would reach out when he was ready to receive help.

The Veterans Case Manager continued to engage both the Veteran and the family, and a few weeks later the family called to indicate that the Veteran was willing to accept the referral to a house. The Case Manager met the Veteran at a local library to begin the intake process, and we are glad to report that later that day the Veteran entered a Veterans shelter program.

If you or someone you know is in need of help, call us at (516) 622-8888.

Updated Digital Presence

This winter we have continued to inform the public that we are now doing business as CEC Health Care.

  • We have officially changed the name of our social media accounts from Charles Evans Center to CEC Health Care. Please note that while our Instagram, LinkedIn and X accounts have simply had their names changed, our Facebook page is a brand-new page. We were able to retain all of our previous Facebook followers, but if you don’t follow us yet, click here to do it now.

  • In addition, we are updating our name across the internet, including places like WebMD, Glassdoor, Waze and Google Maps. We are currently tackling the name change process on other websites as well.

If you see places on the internet where we are still listed as Charles Evans Center, please email CEC Health Care’s Director of Development, Michael Degeorges, at degeorgesm@charlesevanscenter.org.

We appreciate your assistance and understanding. Thank you!
