"Bit by bit, putting it together"
Sondheim's Townhouse For Sale
For those of you who know me well, you now how much I love theatre and the work of Stephen Sondheim.
Well, it is an exciting time at Compass as one of our colleagues has just listed his seven-bedroom Turtle Bay townhouse for sale.
In the song “Another Hundred People” from the musical Company, Kathy sits in a midtown park and tells Bobby, “There’s a time to come to New York and a time to leave it.” If you happen to have $7 million and are a fan of Stephen Sondheim, your time to come to New York is now.
The most captivating part of the townhouse is probably the second-floor music studio, where Sondheim wrote many of his celebrated works, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Into the Woods, and Passion.
His seven-bedroom townhouse at 246 East 49th Street in Turtle Bay Gardens is now on the market.

Left Bank Offers A Different Kind Of Happy Hour:
Early Dinner Specials
For many independent restaurants, happy hour means reduced priced cocktails, wine or beer, sometimes with free hors d’oeuvres added. But at Left Bank, a seasonal farm-to-table bistro located in the West Village in New York City, happy hour dinner specials have been luring in crowds in the early evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekly and 4-6 weekends.
The Happy Hour Specials
Left Bank offers three distinct happy hour specials: 1) two appetizers for $25, which can include a dozen oysters, a deal since most appetizers cost $17 to $22; 2) a burger, fries and a glass of beer for $25, cheaper than its usually $27 burger price; 3) a pasta such as gnocchi or tagliatelle Bolognese with a glass of wine for $25, where pastas cost $26 to $28 each on the dinner menu.

Work is nearing completion on Gansevoort Peninsula Park, a new 5.5-acre public recreational green space along the Hudson River waterfront off the West Village. Designed by James Corner Field Operations and commissioned by the Hudson River Park Trust, the park will contain a full-size soccer field surrounded by lush landscaping and shrubbery, numerous pathways, stepped seating, a children’s playground, kayak slips, a salt marsh, a dog run, viewing platforms, and Manhattan’s first public sandy beach. The site is located next to Pier 53, directly across from the Whitney Museum of American Art. Large sections of the park’s infrastructure were still being formed at the time of our last update nearly one year ago.

This Lauded Former Williamsburg Bar Reopens in NYC
Once a frequented Williamsburg cocktail bar, Donna closed its doors in December 2020 after nearly a decade in business. Now, the beloved worker-owned restaurant resurrected at its new home in New York City’s buzzy West Village neighborhood.
The vibrant tropically-styled restaurant pays homage to Founder Leif Young Huckman’s mother’s home country of Honduras. Sand-toned limewash plaster and white brick walls sport bold-shaped custom artwork by Moroccan artisan company, The Anou, while golden-hued light fixtures create a warm ambiance throughout the orange-colored accented intimate bar front and chic dining area.
