It is usually Scout and Archie I am most interested in featuring - but this week StreetEasy selected my listing - 173 East 74th, St, Unit 3B as the most popular listing of the week based on views.

Those of you who know me well know I stage or curate almost all the apartments I sell. I recently staged this unit and the response has been incredible.

Not only has the staging brought in dozens of buyers in the first couple of weeks but also several offers offers.

A Celebrity Editor Opens A Store

Shoe horns, lampshades and CBD-infused elixirs are among the goods Graydon Carter is selling at a new newsstand-style shop in New York.

Call it instinct, or a second sight: Graydon Carter claims he knows a reader when he sees one. While scanning the streets of Manhattan’s West Village this week, Mr. Carter said pointedly, “In this part of the city, you’ll have many more readers than nonreaders.”

That may be why he chose a stretch of Hudson Street near Perry Street in the Village as the site of a new retail venture, Air Mail Newsstand, which is an extension of the digital newsletter, Air Mail.

A Gas Station Burger Debuts in the West Village

A staple of the South, the gas station restaurant has been alive and well for at least 20 years, with many of them specializing in everything from fried chicken to pho. The model has made it to the West Village, where a new burger joint called Smacking Burger opened this past Saturday inside the Mobil station at 51-63 Eighth Avenue, just north of Horatio Street.

The owner, Tommy Hondros, also owns the last gas station in lower Manhattan, while his girlfriend, Elizabeth Torres, is running the burger joint.

The corner property comes with an electric outlet and meter, but utilities including water and gas would have be pulled from the street.

Outdoor dining in New York City wasn’t supposed to be a permanent thing. In fact, it was supposed to be a very temporary one—a slapdash, short-term solution cobbled together to help struggling businesses safely eke out something of an income during a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. Case in point: when Mayor de Blasio announced his reopening plan for restaurants on June 4, 2020, he gave them just three weeks to establish their outdoor setups.

But the moment New York’s eateries unveiled their sidewalk cafés and charming, creatively appointed courtyards, it became clear that it definitely should be a permanent thing. Sipping an Aperol Spritz is that much more enjoyable when simultaneously people-watching on Lafayette Street. Wandering around the West Village’s many cafés is a downright idyllic exercise when its narrow, brownstone-lined streets are closed to cars.

L’Artusi Opens A Supper Club In New York City’s West Village

When Kevin Garry, owner and operating partner, opened L’Artusi, a high-end eatery in New York City’s West Village in 2008, he aimed to create an ambitious, inventive Italian restaurant. It has become a mainstay and success that led to his expanding with b’artusi, an Italian-inspired small plate wine bar and Via Porta, a coffee and sandwich shop, both located a block away.

Now Garry is at it again, debuting the L’Artusi Supper Club, a private event and supper club, located a block away on Christopher Street. It’s pricey costing $195 per person including gratuity for a four-course dinner with wine pairings at 5:30 p.m. and an 8:30 meal with five courses with wine pairings for $225 (tip included).

The Best Dive Bars in New York City

Referring to dive bars as "best" or superior to others is somewhat tricky, since none of the places on this map are vying for the title — as doing so would render it not a dive. So here is a broad list of some of Eater's favorite dives around New York and what makes them special.

These 21 bars are downright grungy, somewhat lovable, and absolutely solid, where a beer under $6 is the norm and ordering food is not. Prepare for sticky floors, tagged bathrooms, and gallons of cheap booze. None of them look good with the lights on, but all are a fun time.
