The new law that went into effect at midnight today, that SCOTUS declined to block, strips health care rights from Texas women before most women know they are even pregnant.

The law prohibits abortions after 6 weeks of gestation - just 2 weeks after a missed menstrual cycle.

'Sue Thy Neighbor' provision: the law offers a $10,000 bounty to anyone around the country who reports and successfully sues any person who aids a woman in obtaining an abortion after the 6-week period. Further, any clinic found guilty of performing an abortion after 6 weeks MUST be closed by the state.

This bounty provision returns us to some of the darkest times in our history - Europe in the 1930s and the U.S. during the McCarthy era - but so much worse.

THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND.

"[I]t will be open season on Texas’ abortion providers.... Any person who forms an intent to “abet” the abortion can also be sued.... Possible targets include family members of the patient; rape crisis counselors, genetic counselors, and clergy; a friend who drives the patient to a clinic; donors to an abortion fund; and, of course, the clinic staff who facilitate the procedure." - Dahlia Litwick , legal journalist.

There is a Congressional bill that would codify the protections of Roe v. Wade into federal law, overturning state laws restricting abortion access.

Call your Representative and Senators and demand they pass the

Women's Health Protection Act (SB-1975)

Passing this bill will STOP state laws that have continuously stripped pregnant people of their choice whether or not to carry a pregnancy.

The Supreme Court decided women have the right to choose over 50 years ago. It is time CONGRESS made it federal law.
