Makaris formed in 2018 to explore the broad musical heritage of Scotland and the following year they released their Internationally acclaimed debut CD Wisps in the Dell.

Makaris founder Kivie Cahn-Lipman says in the recent Berkshire Eagle interview,

“You’ve got Italian musicians in London and Dublin and Edinburgh, permeating music in the British Isles; traditional Scottish music coming down from the Highlands; and Irish harpists and pipers," Cahn-Lipman said. "All these disparate influences come together in a swirling vortex of musical styles, mixed with fancy continental Baroque in ‘Scots Drawing Room Style’.”
