Hudbay’s

Open Pit Mine Proposal Review

Parts 2 and 3

Last week’s Living Desert Alliance Newsletter outlined Part One of Dave DeGroot's excellent summary of the hard-hitting new study commissioned by the Save the Scenic Santa Ritas Association entitled Economic Impact of the Copper World/Rosemont Mine Complex. This week we continue with parts two and three.

Part Two shows multiple maps of the area revealing the massive footprint of the mining operation Hudbay Corporation plans to carve into the beautiful northern Santa Rita Mountains.

Part Three explains the fears of mine waste pollution as Hudbay clears, digs, and blasts into twenty-five square miles of the pristine Sata Rita's mountains. The audacity of Hudbay’s Copper World plan takes your breath away,” says Dave DeGroot.

Please take time to review this information then write your

objections to our elected officials and local media.

Many voices CAN make a difference.

Pilgrimage

"Meridians bind bone and blood

to soil and stone,

long hills enfold the pilgrim

traveling home.

Ancient sentinels raise their many arms

in praise for warming sun,

in supplication for pounding monsoon rains.

Creosote incense carries

their prayers to heaven.

Pilgrim knows ledges in the sun

are only sand and stone,

but he listens

as evening whispers."
