A message to Gov. Hobbs on I-11 proposal from

LDA Member

Thomas Wiewandt

Thomas Wiewandt is a field ecologist, an MS graduate in Zoology from the University of Arizona, has a PhD in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Cornell and is the President/CEO of Wild Horizons® Publishing, Inc.

While all these credentials are impressive, you may best know him as the creator and producer of the stunning documentary showcase entitled Desert Dreams, which continues to air on National Public Television from 2015-present.

As an ardent environmentalist, Mr. Wiewandt understands the devastation the proposed route of the new Interstate 11 would inflict on our beautiful Sonoran Desert and was moved to voice his concerns in an opinion piece printed in the June 30th, 2024, edition of the Arizona Capital Times.

Click HERE to read this thoughtful objection urging Governor Hobbs to find “Better options to achieve the needed balance between progress and sustainability in Arizona."

Click HERE for a PDF copy if you are unable to open the Arizona Capital Times link.

Click HERE to review the June 20th Living Desert Alliance Newsletter for additional information and ways to contact Governor Hobbs to voice your objections to this route and its negative environmental consequences.
