Parkside Range to Compete at International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s a cappella group, Parkside Range, will compete in the quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICAA) in Madison on Saturday, March 2. They will perform a preview concert for the university community in the Bedford Concert Hall on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m.

The ICAA believes that “competition fosters growth as groups work together toward a specific goal as an ensemble, cultivating lifelong friendships.” The College Tournament was founded in 1996 and has since grown to include 450 groups from nine regions in the U.S. and Europe.

UW-Parkside to Host Jazz Week 2024

Pianist Orrin Evans Headlines UW-Parkside’s 11th Annual Jazz Week

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is excited to host Jazz Week from Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15. Yamaha Pianist Orrin Evans will bring his bold and cutting-edge compositions to UW-Parkside’s 11th Annual Jazz Week as the featured headliner on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Bedford Concert Hall. With more than 25 albums to his credit, Orrin Evans is the model of a fiercely independent artist, who dares his fellow musicians to embrace innovation.

The week kicks off on the evening of Monday and runs through Friday, culminating with a concert by local high school jazz ensembles from Tremper, Bradford, and Walden III. Tim Berne’s Trio will begin the week on Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in the Bedford Concert Hall. This performance is free and open to the public. Alto saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and label boss, Berne works in a variety of styles, often juxtaposing meticulous noted arrangements with free improvisation. His is truly impressive with over 50 albums on labels such as Empire, Soul Note, Columbia, ECM, and his own, Screwgun. Berne will be accompanied by Gregg Belisle-Chi on guitar and Tom Rainey on drums.

Pregnant and Expecting Parents in the Classroom:

Rights Under Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), 20 U.S.C. §1681 est seq., is a Federal Civil Rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex—including pregnancy and parental status—in educational programs and activities.

  • Should a pregnant student have specific classroom needs (e.g. larger desk, elevator access, ability to make frequent trips to the restroom, or other), faculty, staff, and other university personnel are required to comply.

  • Any absences related to pregnancy or childbirth must be excused for as long as medical personnel deems necessary; this includes medical appointments.

  • Students returning to class must be allowed to return to the same academic status as before the medical leave began and given the opportunity to make up any work missed during the leave. This includes an opportunity to make-up “class participation” points that the student missed by virtue of not being in class.

It is important to note that pregnant or parenting students are held to the same level of academic standards and must meet the learning objectives that have been set for the course. Students must work with the Accessibility Services Office and their faculty to determine reasonable accommodations that will allow them to complete all work and achieve course outcomes.

If students have any questions or concerns, they may contact Dr. Renee Kirby in the Accessibility Services Office, kirby@uwp.

Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) Updates

Workday Go-Live Revised to 2025

The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents approved a revised timeline for the Administrative Transformation Program Workday implementation. Go-live is now scheduled for July 2025, revised from July 2024. End-user training will begin in March 2025.

The revision will provide adequate time to prepare for a successful implementation. We will continue to partner with ATP as we get ready for the transition to Workday.

ATP will standardize finance, human resources, and research administration processes, such as payroll and expense reporting, across the UW System. To learn more about Workday and subscribe to the ATP Touchpoints newsletter, visit the ATP website.

What Is ATP?

The Administrative Transformation Program (ATP) is on a mission to rebuild finance, human resources, and research administration systems at every institution within the University of Wisconsin System. The goal is to reduce the complexity of the current administrative environment and refocus valuable staff time on UW’s mission of education, research, and outreach.

To make this vision a reality, we’re working with people across the UW to standardize processes and implement new, best-in-class technology to support these essential functions.

Technology

To standardize business processes and integrate our systems, ATP will implement Workday and Huron Research Suite to replace HRS, SFS, and hundreds of ancillary systems across the UW.

People

ATP's success depends on knowledgeable staff who apply their time, talent, and expertise — both on and off the program team.

Process

Our business process redesign work is based on a tiered governance structure and tested methodology that includes faculty and staff from across the UW System.

RENEW Wisconsin Recognizes UW-Parkside's Commitment to Clean Energy

Annual Clean Energy Honor Roll Features 2 MW Onsite Solar Array

In its ongoing commitment to acknowledge trailblazers in the pursuit of a clean energy future, RENEW Wisconsin honored the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for its exceptional dedication to sustainability. The recognition comes as part of the 2023 Clean Energy Honor Roll, a tradition upheld at RENEW Wisconsin's annual renewable energy summit.

The 2.1 MW onsite solar array, designed to supply the University of Wisconsin-Parkside with zero-carbon electricity, earned a spot on the Clean Energy Honor Roll. The announcement was made ahead of RENEW Wisconsin's 13th annual Energy Policy Summit, titled "Unleashing the Power of Wisconsin’s Clean Energy Potential," which took place on February 1, 2024, in Madison, WI. Images and details of the honored projects, including the UW-Parkside solar array, were showcased at the summit.

The Clean Energy Honor Roll recognizes individuals, organizations, companies, and local governments that actively contribute to Wisconsin's transition to a 100% clean energy future. These "difference makers" play a crucial role in overcoming obstacles and steering the state towards a carbon-free energy economy.

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!
