Advocacy In Action!

We did it! We were victorious on the Dr. Phil Primetime Show!

We are grateful Dr. Phil supported the truth!

We thank Dr. Phil for giving our families a voice. He honored the Bacchus family and gracefully told their story about how marijuana caused their son's death. The show featured Kobe Wolfe, who survived three episodes of cannabis-induced psychosis (CIP). Kobe's mother, Linda Wolfe, expressed the horrible pain a family goes through when their son was lost in psychosis and homeless. He gave Dr. Karen Randell and Aubree Adams from Pueblo, Colorado, a platform to publicly expose the predatory practices, deception, and false medical claims of the addiction-for-profit marijuana industry.

Go to Merit Street Media or download the app to watch the show. Then go to Dr. Phil Primetime and watch the show titled Addiction Psychosis, Trips to The ER and Suicide: Is it Still "Just Weed"?

Florida Senator Scott Says Brother’s Death is Why He Opposes Legal Pot

Citing deeply personal issues, Florida Senator Rick Scott said that in November, he will be voting against the ballot amendment to legalize recreational cannabis in the Sunshine State.

Scott, who previously served as Florida’s Governor from 2011 to 2019, said his decision is based on what his family experienced during his brother’s long battle with addiction. Roger Scott first started smoking marijuana as a teenager and subsequently struggled with substance abuse for the rest of his life. Senator Scott says his brother had a “tough life” and that it all started with marijuana.

Because marijuana is a gateway drug, this is an all-too-familiar story for millions of families in America.

Marijuana As A Dangerous Gateway Drug

It is extremely relevant to Roger Scott’s life that he first started smoking pot while he was still a teenager. That fateful decision set him on a path that led to further drug abuse, addiction, dysfunction, and unrealized potential.

As pro-cannabis supporters and corporate-sponsored special interest groups push for rescheduling and expanded legalization, marijuana use among young people has hit an all-time high.

This is both significant and cause for concern.

The human brain continues to mature through young adulthood until age 25. Marijuana affects the still-developing brain during this vulnerable time and causes a disproportionate amount of long-term – or even permanent – damage.

This can manifest as a greater risk of mental illness, worsened symptoms, or an extremely elevated risk of developing an addictive disorder.

Age matters – starting to smoke pot between the ages of 15 and 18 raises the risk of a drug problem by the late 20s to 44%. For teens who initiate use before they turn 15, that risk spikes to an alarming 68%.

What Can We Learn from the Life of Roger Scott?

Roger Scott puts a human face on what the Industrialized Big Marijuana companies don’t want you to know. The message is clear – marijuana is NOT safe, and it CAN and DOES ruin lives.
