Greetings NTMCA Members!

What’s the story? Irish Translation: How is everything?
Have you ever heard of the term “luck of the Irish”? I thought the meaning has something to do with good fortune of the people of Ireland, but originally the "Irish phrase" had a different connotation. According to Edward T. O’Donnell, an Associate Professor of History at Holy Cross College, the term is not Irish in origin.
During the gold and silver rush years in the second half of the 19th century, a number of the most famous and successful miners were of Irish and Irish American birth....Over time this association of the Irish with mining fortunes led to the expression 'luck of the Irish.' So there you have it, a little bit of Irish history.
February Meeting Recap
Thank you to all who attended the February virtual meeting, we had 26 attendees.

Sandy Potter with Texas Health shared with us ways to achieve wellness and getting back to normal or baseline and stated normal is different for everyone. Sandy shared about the leading causes of stress and gave us tools to improve our stress levels. Meditation, deep breathing, sleep, exercise, finding new ways to spend time with friends, finding balance, faith and volunteering.

What tool will you pick from the tool box to help you with your current stress?

Professional Seminar Committee Chair Shelly Scazzero, Hudson Oaks, reported on the survey responses for the Professional Seminar which is typically in April. In consideration of membership responses the Professional Seminar will now be held on our July 14th business meeting date. More details will follow as we get closer to the event.

Legislative Committee Chair Lisa Cabrera, Krum, and Committee member Leticia Vacek, Trophy Club, reported on city-related bills coming before the legislation for consideration and noted a few bills to keep our eyes on.

P.S. Thank you Tammy Dixon for the picture tip, the record box is no longer covering NTMCA smiling faces!

Important items of interest:

Here is your Kindness Korner encouragement for March.

We have had a lot of turbulent weather here lately. I think you could safely say the last year has seemed like “four seasons of winter.” (Those are song lyrics by the way)

This time of year the weather in Texas is a yo-yo. This kindness quote reminds us to be kind no matter the season or temperature.
Have a blessed March!

Sincerely, Traci Henderson, President
