Honoring Dr. Adler

New AME Center Publications: Mind-Body Research

Just released! For 3 years, AME researchers developed this integrative review and new model of how mind-body practices allow people to enter the unique psychophysiological state of “deep rest,” a state that enables cellular rejuvenation.

Spoiler alert: Social Safety is a key ingredient!

Positive well-being is good – but especially prosociality! Prosociality is linked to lower inflammation, greater longevity, and increased happiness. See our new call to action in Nature Behavior, with Drs. Laura Kubzansky and Richie Davidson.

Featured AME Researcher: Ryan Brown, PhD

Ryan L. Brown, Ph.D. is a social health psychologist and postdoctoral scholar funded by the Bakar Aging Research Institute at the University of California, San Francisco. Trained in psychoneuroimmunology, Dr. Brown’s research focuses on stress-response processes to study healthy aging. Her work frequently captures periods of major life transitions (e.g., spousal bereavement, pregnancy to postpartum) to identify the biopsychosocial underpinnings of adaptive adjustment through stressful life transitions.

We spoke with her regarding her work in this Q & A.
