July 31 Last Day to Give E-Scooter/E-Bike Feedback

Users and non-users of shared e-scooters and e-bikes in Montgomery County are invited to provide feedback on the program. July 31 is the last day to take the survey. It just takes a few minutes to complete and will help the County understand what improvements to make.

August 4 Deadline to Take DMVMoves Survey

You can help shape the future of public transportation around the region by taking this brief, confidential survey by August 4. The DMVMoves initiative is meant to create a unified vision and sustainable funding model for the DMV region’s transit network. You must be 18+ to take the survey, and you could win a $100 gift card.

Calling All Employers: Cut Employee Commute Costs with FareShare

Are you an employer looking to cut your employees’ commute costs? Consider enrolling in Montgomery County FareShare. The FareShare program reimburses you for subsidizing your employees’ use of vanpooling and public transportation.

You can offset your employees’ qualified commute costs up to the maximum of $315 per month, and Montgomery County will reimburse you for any amount provided over the employer contribution of $25, up to $315 per month. You can be reimbursed up to a maximum of $40,000 per year.

Learn more about FareShare here. To apply, simply contact Commuter Services at 240-773-BWTW (2989) or email mcdot.commuterservices@montgomerycountymd.gov to receive the FareShare Employer Enrollment Form.

Celebrate Ride On Flex’s 5th Anniversary

MCDOT Receives Three National Association of Counties Awards

Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) received three achievement awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards were for:

  • Dedicated Bus Lanes Project, which added more than two miles of dedicated bus lanes along one of the area’s busiest and most congested corridors.
  • Maximizing Underutilized Public Parking by Partnering with Long-Term Leases, which generated additional revenue for low development costs.
  • Problem Solving Committees, which were able to individually focus on specific challenges such as policy changes, teamwork, communication, and employee recognition.

The County has earned a total of 34 NACo Achievement Awards for 2023!

Montgomery County Breaks Ground on Nation’s Largest Green Energy-Powered Bus Depot

Montgomery County leaders broke ground last month on what will be the largest bus depot in the U.S. powered by renewable energy. The County’s EMTOC microgrid project will feature electric bus charging stations and on-site green hydrogen powered by solar and battery energy storage.

By 2035, it is projected that over 200 zero-emission buses will be accommodated at the depot, most of which will be hydrogen fuel cell electric buses (FCEBs). This is the first facility on the East Coast to produce green hydrogen on site.
