SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: In observance of Memorial Day, crews will be off-site on Friday, May 24, by 3 p.m., and will return on-site on Tuesday, May 28 at 7 a.m.

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:

Tuesday, May 28 through Friday, May 31, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., there will be shoulder closures on U.S. Route 2 (U.S. 2) and width reductions on the Interstate 89 (I-89) ramps at their intersection with U.S. 2 to facilitate independent utility work.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Next week, crews will be on-site between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to begin clearing and grubbing along U.S. Route 7 (U.S. 7) between Simon’s Chimney Corner Store and Wiley Road, and in the vicinity of the I-89 southbound off-ramp. Crews will continue to install erosion prevention and sediment control measures throughout the project area. This work will take place off the roadway.

Independent utility companies will also be on-site near the intersection of U.S. 2 and the I-89 Exit 17 Interchange to continue conducting utility relocations with minor impacts to traffic.

There is potential for nighttime construction activities to begin on Sunday, June 2, 2024, along U.S. 7, starting just south of the Shell Gas Station/Simon’s Chimney Corner Store and extending north to Wiley Road. This work will take place Sunday through Thursday between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

LOCATION: The section of U.S. 2 starting just east of Jasper Mine Road and extending just under a half mile east to its intersection with U.S. 7 at Chimney Corners. The section of U.S. 7 starting just south of the Shell Gas Station/Simon’s Chimney Corner Store and extending just over a half mile north to its intersection with Wiley Road. The Exit 17 interstate ramps and the portion of I-89 bounded by them.
